Proposed New Summer Beach Zone Parking Restrictions
February 15 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Following recommendations by the 2016 Council Ad Hoc Beach Traffic Task Force, Councilor O’Hara has proposed Order CC #2018-003, and the Traffic Commission and Ordinance & Administration Committee are reviewing revisions to the Gloucester Code of Ordinance #22, creating new “No Parking – Tow-Away” and “Resident Sticker Parking Only” restrictions in beach zone neighborhoods around Bass Avenue, Marina Drive, Hartz Street, Thatchers Road, Starknaught Heights and Brier Neck.
“Resident Sticker Parking Only” stickers are different from Gloucester Resident Beach Stickers, and need to be purchased annually at the City Clerk’s office for $5.00, and displayed on resident vehicles.
The proposed Beach Zone Parking Ordinance changes are intended to address non-resident Summer beach parking that adversely impacts public safety and access by local residents and property owners. Associated fees for illegal parking are also proposed to be increased.
Impacted Streets include specified areas of: Marina Drive, Hartz Street, Sayward Street, Mondello Square, Starknaught Heights, Joppa Way, Beachcroft Road, Cliff Road, Barberry Way, Warwick Road, Palfrey Road, Brier Neck Road, Long Beach Road, Prospect Terrace, Arland Terrace, Twilight Avenue, High Rock Terrace.
